Waddesdon Manor was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in 1874 to display his outstanding collection of art treasures and to entertain the fashionable world.
Christmas is a great time to visit Waddesdon. You'll get to see the East Wing, which includes the Bachelors' Wing, stunningly decorated for Christmas in an Austrian theme. The shops at Waddesdon are also festively decorated and full of inspiring gift ideas from inexpensive stocking fillers to stunning individual pieces. Outside in the Gardens there is - Winter Light at Waddesdon – a collection of six large-scale outdoor art installations by acclaimed British light artist Bruce Munro, following a trail around the Gardens at Waddesdon.
We also include a visit to Bletchley Park near Milton Keynes, which was home to the famous code breaking centre in the Second World War. Once Britain's Best Kept Secret, Bletchley Park is now a heritage site and vibrant tourist attraction. Open daily, visitors can explore some of the iconic WW2 Codebreaking Huts and Blocks and marvel at the astonishing achievements of the Codebreakers whose work is said to have helped shorten the war by two years.
