A Week of Horizons: Heritage, Scotland & Quiet Momentum - The Moneypenny Files - w/c. 28th September 2026

Monday — “Hearts Across the Sea & A New Heritage Horizon” Monday began in earnest — and all because of a quiet moment on Friday night. David had settled down to watch a new 30‑minute documentary on YouTube on Friday evening, produced by the Scalloway Museum , titled Hearts Across the Sea . A beautifully made piece, telling the story of the Shetland Bus — the courage, the crossings, the friendships forged between Shetland and Norway in the darkest days of the war. It stirred something. It reminded him of his VisitScotland fam trip to Shetland in April 2023 — of Laurie Goodlad’s guiding, of the museum in Scalloway, of landscapes that feel both remote and welcoming at the same time. And by the time the credits rolled, David knew exactly what he wanted: A Shetland Xplorer Experience for the 2028 Scenic Scotland Xplorer line‑up. A new horizon. A new story. A new journey. So Monday morning began with a newsletter — a warm, enthusiastic note to our travellers — sharing the documentary...

Monday — “Rotherham Roads & A Rising Horizon at TML HQ” Monday opened in Rotherham , with David stepping straight back into the familiar operational rhythm of assisting Steve Bailey and his team — vehicle preparation, checks, and deliveries across Yorkshire. A hands‑on start. A continuation of the steady, grounded work that has defined the first days beyond Leeds. A purposeful cadence. We’ve already begun receiving our first enquiries for Iona in April/May 2027 , a clear sign that the brand’s momentum is beginning to build. To support this, I posted links to our latest newsletter across our social media channels, ensuring visibility, reach, and a gentle reminder that Heritage Journeys is very much part of TML’s future. I also gave people a glimpse of our plans for Scenic Scotland Xplorer and the Outer Hebrides in 2027 ...

Saturday Prelude — The Echo After the Final Door Saturday carries a different kind of quiet. The Leeds chapter closed yesterday, but today the echoes arrived — messages, gratitude, memories, and the kind of heartfelt words that only appear when a legacy has truly landed. From early morning onwards, David’s phone became a small archive of appreciation. Drivers, colleagues, friends, people from GSAL, Hellaby, Rotherham, Oban, and across the wider Dawsonsgroup family sent messages that felt like soft aftershocks from an eleven‑year story. Some thanked him for guidance. Some thanked him for friendship. Some thanked him for the MOT seasons, the compliance clarity, the calmness under pressure. And some said the words that defined the entire week: “Thank you for keeping us safe.” Those words travelled far today. A Morning of Messages Master Ronnie wrote with warmth and honesty, speaking of six years of guidance and how the workplace won’t be the same. Master Jonny reflected on the baton pass,...
